February 11th 2001 -  August 4th 2003

My Wolf-dog, Naiche, came into my life on April 4, 2001.  I had no idea the impact that he would have on my family.  He changed our lives.  FOREVER.  The following is just a little bit of the Legacy he left behind.

As most 8 week old pups are, Naiche’s ears were as huge as his paws.  I often wondered if he would ever grow into them.  The mischief that he got into was never ending, most of which was prompted by my two young girls that he felt he needed to follow everywhere.  They were inseparable right up to the day that he was cruelly forced to leave us.  I will never forget watching the wonderful light in his beautiful eyes go out.  Some of the light also went out of mine.  The day that he had to leave us ended in a terrible summer storm.  My children were frightened by the loud claps of thunder in the sky and wanted the comfort of Naiche in bed with them.  I told them that he would always be with us, but right now he was very busy playing in the “Mountains of Forever”.  I told them not to be frightened because every time that it thundered it meant that Naiche was playing so hard that he was shaking the whole sky.  When it snows he is shaking all the mountain snow off of his coat so that we can play in it.  To this day, whenever it storms or snows, my girls always think of Naiche and are never afraid.  They know he will always be with us.

That is Naiche’s Legacy

He's been here and gone

In his family's heart remains his song.
