2007
Needs and Requirements List |
| 1)
Items Necessary for Summer Survival: |
- Cash or
payment of electric bill which is also the water bill and the main
cooling for all the animals on the rescue in the hot summer months in
the desert summers. 348.00$ a month.
- A generator
for the water system in the event of power failure, which has been
happening more and more with the age of the current systems being
exceeded in demand due to one of the highest growth rates in the
country, the higher over all summer temperatures lasting for longer
periods, and it's usually 110 in the shade for 8 months, which seems
like forever.
- 24" Drum
Fans , 100.00$-120.00$ at Home Depot or Lowes. Gift Cards Accepted!
- Gas cards: for
gas to pick up the loads of dog food that are regularly, and
generously, donated by the Arizona Humane Society, and the Safeway
Distribution Center. Gas runs 80.00$ a month approximately for
hauling multiple large loads 75 miles or more each trip.
- A shed or
large metal shipping or storage container for dog food storage. WWR is
out of mouse proof storage space. Please help keep the rodent and
rattlesnake population down by contributing a permanent safe feed

Items Necessary for Placement of Animals: |
|
Communications
Equipmnent:
|
- Phone and
internet access: Landline: 623-546-9653. Any donations towards
the phone, long distance calling, and internet access. because as you all know I always
return your calls, and the computer's DIAL-UP ACCESS is very slow, we
would like to upgrade to DSL as it is now available in our area, we
need your help to do make this move though. the internet access is imperative to get
the animals pictures out to prospective owners, to maintain the
website and to create more interest to save more wolves and wolf dogs,
and to answer your emails.
- Cell phone
line which includes the ability to take pictures of the animals in the
shelters, at their homes, or where ever they may be. Without this
wonderful invention we are back to the dark ages of taking pictures
and waiting until they are developed before they can be scanned and
eventually added to the internet. Minutes compared to weeks.
- 150.00$ a
month for these services is well worth what they do to save lives.
|
- Ads in the
News paper. 90% of our adoptions both new, old, and repeat, have used
the Arizona Republic Gazette to find us. Ads with the Rep/Gaz
are currently running 25 $ for 3 lines for 3 days for private
individuals placing ads. Donations can be made to WWR for these ads or
call 623-546-9653 for other options. This is an ongoing need every
week. Please help soon.
- UPDATE!!!:
With the advent
of our new sites at www.wwr.petfinder.com
and at pets
911 and 1800 save-a-pet. among others, we have for the FIRST
TIME in the 23 years that Where Wolves rescue has been in operation
not run ads in the local newspaper. I'm not sure how many potential homes
we have been losing because of this though. Normally a certain volume of
adopters and homeless animals come through those ads and they are looking
for Where Wolves Rescue because they have seen the ads every year for so
long. So for now we shall see if this turn out to be a good idea or
not. For those of you using our rescue sites thank you very much for
adopting a dog with the help of the internet.

Veterinary care and needs: |
| Donations
and payments can be made directly to the Veterinarian at :
Sun City West Animal Hospital
Dr. Joshua Winston Accnt # 8615
13576 Camino Del Sol Suite #1
Sun City West AZ 85375
or a donation can be made to the rescue. A number of animals need your
sponsored help please see the list below: |
- Comanche,
He is a 14 year old VERY athletic male. I have current pics of him
jumping on the dog house at dinner time! He has a small mole that is
growing rapidly on his lower eyelid. It would benefit him to have it
removed and although it is a small and quick surgery, his size will
require a fair amount of anesthesia and his age will require a
pre-surgery blood work up. Anyone wanting to sponsor Comanche can
click on this link (still under construction) to see pics of
Comanche. UPDATE:
Comanche had his surgery, his eye is healing nicely anyone ho wishes
to contribute to the vet fund is welcome we are desperate for
donations to make these types of surgeries possible for future
animals.
- Fritz is a
9-10 year old VERY athletic German Shepherd. He needs to see the vet to have
his ears flushed on a weekly basis. UPDATE:
Fritz has some corneal myopathy due to age and calcification in his
eyes. Nothing serious , Nothing to worry about. Unfortunately he
does have serious ear infections that may require surgeries. Meanwhile
he is getting his ears flushed every week, and bathed and groomed out
also (this means his wondrous long feathers will have to be cut back
for now) he is also on prednisone and antibiotics. There are more pics of
Fritz at the following link (under construction).
A number of
permanent refugees need to be vaccinated for Rabies at the vets, or
for a 500$ donation I can get another Vet to come out and do the whole
crew at once. It saves a lot of money in the long run. They will all
be coming due within the next year or so. A
few of the animals who have come in have been vaccinated for rabies as we
take them to the vets. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP WITH THIS BILL SEE VET INFO
ABOVE. PLEASE SEND FUNDS TO DR. WINSTON AND THE SUN CITY WEST ANIMAL
HOSPITAL.
- Donations to
the veterinarians for an emergency fund in case we get an animal
that needs a surgery, or other expensive procedure. Contact the rescue
for more info on this or just send a payment directly to the
Veterinarian Listed Above, Dr. Winston at Sun City West Animal
Hospital. See info above.
- Rosie ( the
Riveter) had a freak accident last month , she herniated a disk in a
moment of exercise. She was seen by the Veterinary Neurological Center
In Phoenix, They performed an MRI on her and then proceeded to operate
on her herniated disk. They cut a small window in the vertebrae and
removed all the herniated disk material and the blood from the broken
blood vessels. She remained in their care for another 2 days at which
time she came home. Rosie has been on restricted movement as she
recuperates. Since this all happened at the beginning of February, it
is nice to tell you all that she is recuperating nicely already. She
has full range of motion, she is running about and rough housing as
usual and she really needs to not let herself overdo things as just a
few weeks ago she was on death's doorstep. But as dogs are prone to
doing, she doesn't seem to care, and wants to be back to normal
NOW! The bill at the vet neurological center was 6000$ glad to
see our emergency fund working. Meanwhile the fund will have to be
replaced as one never knows when an emergency could happen.

! Where Wolves Rescue Will Be rescuing 2 HORSES! |
- To Make this
rescue happen WWR will need some help here. We need horse corralling,
2 pens and some vet bills and ferrier bills to make this happen. All
in all our emergency bill would have gone to this endeavor, but now
there is nothing left, so we really need your help on this one.
You can help by being an Angel and purchasing one of our Pet
Angels to show that you are some pets Angel and you have helped
save a life. Please visit our latest Pet Angel fundraiser ( page
currently under construction) at the General Store
or under Fund Raising. Thank you all for
